On Saturday, October 5th, 2013, the West Hall High School Band of Silver took to the competition field at the Lake Lanier Tournament of Bands hosted by Chestatee High School. This event featured fifteen of the top marching ensembles from the region.
The Band, Color Guard, Drumline, Feature Twirlers, and Drum Major each earned superior ratings in the tournament. The Drumline finished second in class double-A. The Feature Twirlers received the highest scores in class double-A. Roxie Smith finished second among class double-A Drum Majors. The Color Guard and overall Band won class double-A by a large margin.
In addition, West Hall was crowned champions of the Silver Division, which consists of bands up to 80 wind musician members. The color guard also won the Silver Division. The trophies signifying these accomplishments are on display in the front lobby.
In all, Saturday proved to be one of the most successful competitions in school history for the Band of Silver. Clearly, I am thrilled with the results. But, I cannot express how proud I am of the hard work our students, leaders, and staff have put in so far this year. The tradition of superiority we have established here at West Hall is a testament to the commitment of the students and their collective desire to be the very best they can be. That is the true accomplishment.
Please take a moment to congratulate these students on their hard work and success!
