I have been approached by the Gainesville/Hall County Fellowship of Christian Athletes to form the 2nd annual East-West Classic Marching Band and Auxiliaries, in conjunction with the East-West Classic Football Teams and Cheer Squads.
This will be sort of a “Senior Bowl” for the football teams, but they wanted to include senior band and cheerleaders. The game will feature two teams comprised of football players from 14 area high schools. SO – we are featuring all of the SENIOR Band members from the respective schools as well for a special half-time performance of this combined band. This an annual event and this will be something that younger students will hope to participate in the future.
I’m very excited about this opportunity for the kids. It will take place on Friday, December 19, at 7:30p.m. on Bobby Gruhn Field at Gainesville’s City Park.
Please see the link below for more information!
This is going to be a huge event! Last year, the governor made a special appearance and other dignitaries from the state. This year will be even bigger. With more schools involved, I’m hoping the band triple in size to at least 150 students. There will be a huge crowd to see this “All-Star” Game and special halftime performance.
As far as a uniform, we have decided to have the band members in the “official” East-West Classic Hoodie and jeans for the performance (as we did last year). Each student will have to pay for the Hoodie ($20), but everything else is FREE – including a meal before the game, a certificate, etc. The money should be paid to your school's band booster club. The deadline to have all money and forms turned in is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15. Enclosed is the schedule for rehearsals and information pertaining to the game.
I have created a google document for students to submit electronically (or if you may fill out the attachment and turn it in to your school to be mailed).
Here is the link to the google document:

Senior Night - next Friday, Nov. 7th
We need parents of underclassmen to help with Senior Night, on Nov. 7th. This is a special night for the senior's. They (band, football and cheerleaders) are escorted onto the field by their parents, are announced and usually there is a yard sign on the field for them to stand by and take home to use at graduation. We have a dinner for the band/auxillary members and their parents before the game. Remember in a couple of years the band will be serving you and your senior. So help us pay it forward.
Patti Dixon is coordinating the meal. We just need people to help finish up the preparation, serve and clean up. You will need to be at the school cafeteria at 4PM. The seniors and their parents eat at 5:30PM and are out by 6:30PM. Dinner will be cleaned up and done by half time
If 4 PM is not workable for you, please help in consessions. We want senior parents to be honored at this game and not work the dinner or the concessions. That leaves lots of spots for underclassmen parents to fill.
If you can help please email me your name and telephone number. email@example.com Or call Patti directly at678 316 1420 and leave a message.
We will also need underclassman parents to help with concessions this night. Senior parents WILL NOT be working and we should have a big crowd at the game that night. The money raised in concessions goes in to the general band fund to help pay for music, instruction, buses to playoff games and more. Contact Paul Skinner if you can help with this 404-557-0460 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Attached is a an updated Honor Band roster (some spelling errors are fixed), and a campus map of Riverside. All buses and personal vehicles should park in the North Parking Lot, and rehearsals will take place in the Cervantes Theatre located in the Sandy Beaver Center for Teaching and Learning. There will be signs pointing you toward the SBC from the North Parking Lot.
