A Tradition of Excellence...
The West Hall High School Band Program has received consistent superior ratings since its inception in 1988. The band program at West Hall consists of the Band of Silver Marching Band, the Symphonic Band, the Concert Band, the Jazz Band, and several smaller ensembles and section choirs. Each ensemble prepares to uphold the precedent of excellence set at West Hall.
The Band of Silver is a competitive marching ensemble that performs at all Spartan football games, both home and away, as well as several marching competitions each fall. There are two performing concert ensembles at West Hall. The Concert Band is made up mostly of 9th and 10th-grade students and teaches young musicians the discipline of their instrument. The Symphonic Band is the most advanced instrumental performing ensemble at West Hall. This group is made up mostly of 11th and 12th-grade students and allows more advanced musicians to thrive on their instrument. The Jazz Band is an elective course that teaches students the history of jazz music and prepares them for jazz performance. Each ensemble is demanding in different ways. All students in the Band Program are required to be in the Band of Silver during the fall.
For members of the West Hall Band, consistent superiority is not limited to the concert stage or marching field. The students in the band program are also some of the most academically disciplined at West Hall. The band has one of the highest aggregate grade point averages of any club, team, or organization on campus. Alumni of the band leave West Hall with a discipline and pride that prepare them for all aspects of their future.
